India

India’s national women’s team is also known as ‘Nabhvarna’ in its own country. The team surprised last summer during the Olympic Games by reaching the semifinals. Unfortunately, they lost this match and then also the battle for bronze, but that didn’t take away that the team has put itself well on the map. They have yet to reach a podium finish in a World Cup and their best performance comes from their debut in 1974, where they finished fourth. Who knows, the latest results may be a harbinger of a success at this World Cup.
